Exodus Gale examines Germany’s unique history of migration to Brazil during war and political unrest in conjunction with modern Brazilian migration to Germany. Derived from field recordings, interviews, and other primary source material, the resulting composition will be performed for Latinx communities that lack access to cultural diversity and live electronic performances. An ideal performance will result in increased awareness regarding the experience of Brazilian and German immigrants, an enhanced sense of cohesion within the Latinx community, and a performance narration using modern electronic techniques.
There are several Latinx migrant communities around Idaho that are faced with aloneness and isolation with many suffering from poverty and lack of cultural identity. This project can alleviate the hardships of having a migrant background by performing "Exodus Gale" in small towns around Idaho; these performances will provide a sense of community and understanding for migrant communities in Germany and Brazil, and create awareness regarding conditions of LatinX conditions to Non-Latinx audiences through performances in Berlin and Boise. Artists and musicians through Berlin venues can draw inspiration on narrating personal experiences through multimedia technology and performances.
